On the centre of Europe where the land meets the see, there is country with friendly and hospitable people. Country of contrast, whose diversity is one of its greatest treasure. Poland, officially the Republic of Poland, is a parliamentary republic. Poland is a unitary state divided into 16 administrative subdivisions, covering an area of 312,679 square kilometres with a mostly temperate climate. With a population of over 38.5 million people, Poland is the sixth most populous member state of the Europe. Attempts at reform provoked the union’s neighbours, and the Partition of the Commonwealth by Prussia, Russia and Austria took place. Poles rebelled several times against the partitioners. As a result Poland regained its independence. The Solidarity movement in Poland heralded the collapse of communist regimes and parties across Europe. The centre and parts of the north of the country lie within the North European Plain, which are marked by broad ice-age river valleys. Farther south is a mountainous region, the highest part of the Carpathians is the Tatra Mountains, along Poland’s southern border. Poland is the fourth most forested country in Europe. In recent years, Poland has extended its responsibilities and position in European and international affairs, supporting and establishing friendly relations with other European nations and countries. Poland’s economy is considered to be one of the more resilient of the post-Communist countries. Poland experienced an increase in the number of tourists. Though tourist attractions in Poland vary, from the mountains in the south to the sandy beaches in the north, with a trail of nearly every architectural style. Since the country adopted Christianity, Poland has contributed significantly to the development of ideals, which upheld and guaranteed religious freedom. The culture of Poland, its unique character developed as a result of its geography at the confluence of European cultures. The people of Poland have traditionally been seen as hospitable to artists from abroad and eager to follow cultural and artistic trends popular in other countries. Poland has something more to offer..Polish cuisine has evolved over the centuries to become very eclectic due to Poland’s history. It is rich in meat, especially pork, chicken and beef and winter vegetables. Poland has much more to offer, from the first moment to arrive. Polish art has always reflected European trends while maintaining its unique character. Poland has become a major venue for large-scale music festivals. History has not been kind to Poland’s architectural monuments. Nonetheless, a number of ancient structures has survived: castles, churches, and stately homes, often unique in the regional or European context.
