Father Stanislaw Barszczak, I found Jesus(part2)

VI
Poland is my homeland

Poland was the country most visited by John Paul II. During his nearly 26-year pontificate, the Pope visited the homeland eight times. Here are the years in which John Paul II visited Poland:

And the pilgrimage (June 2-10, 1979)
It lasted from 2 to 10 June 1979 under the slogan “Gaude Mater Polonia”.
In the homily delivered during Mass. Before the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw, the pope called on his compatriots to take special responsibility for the fate of the country and the homeland. He uttered the words, “Let your Spirit come down and restore the face of the earth!” They have been recognized as a call for systemic change and the restoration of freedom in our country.

Second pilgrimage (June 16-23, 1983)
It lasted from 16th to 23rd June 1983. The pilgrimage was under the slogan “Peace to you, Poland – my homeland!”
During the pilgrimage, Pope John Paul II made three beatifications – Urszula Ledóchowska in Poznan and Cracow in Błonia – Albert Chmielowski and Rafał Kalinowski. At Jasna Gora he deposited the bloody belt that was worn on the day of the assassination on May 13, 1981.

Third pilgrimage (June 8-14, 1987)
It lasted from 8 to 14 June 1987. She ran under the slogan “To the end I loved you”. One of the main purposes of the pilgrimage was the participation of the Pope in the Second National Eucharistic Congress. The Pope inaugurated him on 8 June. John Paul II also made two beatifications. On June 9 Karolina Kózka was beatified in Tarnów and Michał Kozal was beatified in Warsaw on 14 June. The solemn Eucharist in Warsaw ended with the Second National Eucharistic Congress.

In Czestochowa, during the Jasna Gora Appeal, he asked Mother Jasna Gora “for the hope of her compatriots.” In the church of St. Cross during a meeting with representatives of creative circles, the pope appealed for “perseverance”.

IV pilgrimage (1-9 June, 13-20 August 1991) The pilgrimage took place in two stages under the slogan “God thank you, the spirit does not quench.” He also inaugurated the 2nd National Plenary Synod and beatified – bp. Joseph Sebastian Pelczar, mother of Boleslaw Lament, Father Rafal Chylinski and Angel Salawa. During this pilgrimage, the Pope taught primarily the Decalogue. For example, in the homily delivered in Kielce, the Holy Father strongly condemned the abortion … The main purpose of his visit was to preside over the celebration of the VI World Youth Day in Czestochowa. “Youth is the hope of the world and the hope of the Church”

V pilgrimage (22 May 1995)
It was the shortest and unofficial papal visit in Poland. It lasted just one day. John Paul II arrived on May 22, 1995 with a pilgrimage to the birthplace of John Sarkander, who was canonized a day earlier during the pilgrimage to the Czech Republic. The passage of the visit to Poland was: “Evil by goodness must be won”. The Holy Father visited Skoczów, Bielsko-Biała and Zywiec.

VI Pilgrimage (May 31-June 10, 1997)
She ran under the slogan “Christ yesterday, today and forever”. During the pilgrimage, the Holy Father participated, among others, in the European celebrations of the millennia of the death of St.Adalbert and the 600th anniversary of the Faculty of Theology of the Jagiellonian University. He also made canonization of St. Queen Hedwig.
During the pilgrimage in 1997, there were two beatifications, both made during the Mass. June 6 in Zakopane – mother of Bernardine Jabłońska and mother of Maria Karłowska.

VII pilgrimage (June 5-17, 1999)
Her slogan was “God is love”.
In Stary Sącz, the Pope canonized Bl. Kinga, he also made 111 beatifications. During the Eucharist at Warsaw Square he beatified Regina Protmann and Edmund Bojanowski and 108 Martyrs of World War II. In Torun, he beatified Stefan Wincenty Frelichowski. The Pope then warned against abuse of power and corruption, which “is a threat to democracy”. After 20 years he repeated the words “renewing the face of the earth”

VIII pilgrimage (16-19 August 2002)
“God rich in mercy” – such was the slogan of the last pilgrimage of John Paul II to Homeland. John Paul II visited Cracow (16-18 August) Kalwaria Zebrzydowska (19 VIII) The main purpose of the pilgrimage was the dedication of the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Cracow – Łagiewniki, where the relics of the Apostle of Divine Mercy, St. Faustina Kowalska, rest. John Paul II at Holy Mass On Cracow Błonia he also made 4 beatifications – Archbishop. Zygmunt Szczęsny Feliński, Fr. Jan Balicki, Fr. Jan Beyzym SJ and Sancja Szymkowiak.

John Paul II was to say: hell is empty (in German Die Hölle ist leer)
And Saint Faustina wrote in the Diary: “Today I heard these words: The graces I give you are not only for you, but for the great number of souls … And in your heart is my habitual abiding. In spite of the misery that you are, I am joining you and receiving your misery, and I give you My mercy; In every soul I do works of mercy, and the greater the sinner, the greater the right to My mercy. My hands are strengthened over every work of My hands. Whoever trusts in My mercy will not perish, for all his affairs are mine, and the enemies will break at the foot of My footstool … I grant you eternal love so that your purity will be immaculate, and proof that you will never experience unclean temptation – Jesus striped the golden belt of himself and girded my hips against him … Deny constantly the lace I taught you. Whoever will recite it will have great mercy at the hour of death. Priests will serve sinners as the last resort; Even if the sinner was the hardest, if he only made that crown, he would have received the grace of my infinite mercy. I want him to know the whole world of My mercy. I do not want the grace I give to souls who trust in My mercy … How you are united in my life, so you will be united at the mercy. They trust in My mercy … As you are united in my life, so will you be united at the moment of death. ”

Annus mirabilis

The year 1989 fundamentally changed the face of the continent. “Autumn of the People” in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe is the collapse of the communist system in the sphere of influence of the Soviet Union. It disintegrates the Yalta order, the end of the bipolar confrontation between East and West. The world order has disintegrated. It was the end of the “short” twentieth century, which began dramatically since the October Revolution in 1917. At the end of the 1980s, the authorities in the Kremlin decided to abandon military domination in the region, but retained significant influence on the transformation of their states. An important change in the layout of the forces of Eastern Europe leading up to the Autumn of the People was the perestroika begun in 1985 in the USSR.

In April 1989, there was an unprecedented visit – the head of the Soviet state went to the Vatican for a meeting with Pope John Paul II. Commentators have taken this event unambiguously – Communist atheism has lost its war with the Church.

During perestroika, in the face of ongoing strikes and social unrest in Poland, in 1988 the communist authorities agreed to talk to representatives of the (illegal) opposition in Poland. As a result, Tadeusz Mazowiecki was appointed Prime Minister in August 1989 and appointed the government. Soon (January 1990) the PZPR was self-dissolved, because the only meaning of its action – total control of all aspects of the functioning of the state – ceased to exist. On December 29, amendments to the constitution were revived to restore the name of the state of “Republic of Poland”, removing the provisions on “socialism” and “alliance with the USSR and other socialist states”.

In the summer of 1989, Hungary followed the Polish path – the communists also started negotiations with the opposition, and in October a new constitution was enacted. The most happening occurred in November – the velvet revolution in Czechoslovakia was pushed back to Todor Zhivkov in Bulgaria, and in the German Democratic Republic Egon Krenz, the successor of Erich Honecker, decided to open the border with the Federal Republic of Germany.

At the same time, it was more and more boiling in the “Baltic boiler”, ie in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia – these countries have concluded an alliance to put an end to the Soviet domination. Also in Yugoslavia – albeit a somewhat different story – the separatist movement was speaking louder and louder. In December, under dramatic circumstances, the Romanian Nicolae Ceauşescu regime collapsed. The world was wiping its eyes in amazement – the empire was falling, and the Soviet tanks did not enter the revolted colonies.

In the same year (November 9) the Berlin Wall collapsed, built in 1961, to prevent contact between the Communist West German and the Democratic People’s Democratic Republic. It was created that the oppressed western city’s population did not know the realities of life under other governments, and also to block the enclave that became East Berlin. However, under the pressure of the demonstrations of German citizens, the leadership of the Communist Party resigned, and the authorities agreed to open the border in 1989, which made the population realize the actual state of affairs. It was important to human consciousness. The fall of the Berlin Wall, symbolizing the division of Europe, was the act of overthrowing communism, bringing Europe to the democratic path.

So in some countries like Poland, Germany, Czechoslovakia, the democratic aspirations of the societies have been realized. The year 1989 was truly groundbreaking because it destroyed the “iron curtain” and re-integrated Europe. The countries of our region introduced democratic rule, and the Soviet republics began to radicalize their views and soon after they broke free of the USSR, and the empire itself disintegrated. The process of European integration, the approximation of Western and Eastern states, the establishment of international organizations began. Europe is on the verge of building a great empire, the United States of Europe.

“Old Europe needs a new evangelization.” (EP speech, Strasbourg, 1988) “History teaches that unqualified democracy is easily transformed into overt or camouflaged totalitarianism.” (Encyclical Centesimus annus, 1991) “There will be no unity of Europe until it is a community of spirit.” (Homily, Gniezno, 1997)
“Freedom can not only be possessed, but must be constantly acquired, created. It may be used well or badly for the service of true or apparent good. “(Audience for Belarussians, 1998.
Need for mercy, so that all injustices in the world find an end in the light of truth. “(Homilia, Lagiewniki, 2002)

Last night years

I was in a meeting with the Pope in Skoczow, we went to him after mud, it paid off. After the holy celebration He came to us, I was Father Prelate Zdzisław with. And he was saying there on “Kaplicowka”:- “Conscience is a matter for every man of fundamental importance. It is his inner guide and he is also the judge of his deeds. “(Homily, Skoczów, 1995) The end of the work is already over the threshold of the third millennium.John Paul II is remembered as a dynamic man, full of vigor and constantly on the move, Parkinson’s disease, colorectal cancer, complications after the assassination, caused the loss of highland health … Pope was preparing for his last departure, and as he said: Your spirit Poland my homeland great is … But I still love patriotism, because he Jesus Christ, who comes out first to seek you … “The modern man is threatened with spiritual anesthesia and even the death of conscience, but the death of conscience is worse than sin … The way to the end is not half the pleasure, It’s all fun “.

“Do not be afraid, do not be afraid! Sail to the deep! “, the Polish pope addressed us.

The process of cultural understanding of the culture of this nation, its society – this is the homeland, I would say here. But the pope leaves. It’s his mom to hear:
“The nation dies when its spirit is dried up, the nation grows when its spirit is purified more and more, and no external forces can destroy it.” (Homily delivered during the Mass celebrated at Jasna Gora in Częstochowa on June 19, 1983)
“The world without art exposes itself to being a world closed to love.”
“Let us defend ourselves from the appearances of love, not by word and word, but by deed and truth.” (Homily, Rome, 1979)
“The Church, following Christ, teaches the truth, which is not always consistent with the opinion of the majority. He hears the voice of conscience, not strength, and thus defends the poor and despised”(Familiaris Consortio, 1981)
Cross means: love knows no boundaries …
“The Gospel (…) is a prophecy about man. Beyond the Gospel, man remains a dramatic unanswered question. “(Book of Memory and Identity, 2005)
“I have no silver or gold. I have no ready answers to important questions. “(Homily, Lyon, 1986)

Epilog

The signing of the abdication would have took place on Easter. But we are already together with the pope, just moments before his death.
-I’m happy, you too! Would like to be with us Pope always.
-I made Mother of God for heaven eventually, he would have noticed with a humorous Polish pope. “Totus tuus”, is the call of Saint Louis Grignon de Montfort was wearing a coat of arms not from the parade.
“I love you, raw tree, because I have no complaint in your fallen leaves.
I love you, raw tree, you covered His shoulders in bloody oaks.
I love you, the pale light of wheat bread, in which eternity will soon resurface, flowing to our shores in a secret path. ”

The mystery of God is no longer a great mystery, though I have revealed it to you. God has become closer to you as in any era of history. As for yourself. Let me go to the Father’s house … Only today is yours ..Do you remember, I was in the Basilica when suddenly he entered: “See how great the priesthood is! Do not destroy it! I said to the priest thinking of leaving the priesthood, asking him as Pope in his knees for confession … “Condemnation” is precisely the final departure from God, which the man voluntarily chose and confirmed this choice with the final seal at the time of death.

We hear from St. Peter the faithful singing. The Pope dies in his apartment. It is already the second day of April, at 21.37.

We read the will of John Paul II, Rome, March 6, 1979: – “Personal notes burn. Please, to watch over these matters, Fr. Stanislaw [Dziwisz], whom I thank for the generous cooperation and support for the long years. ”

So I do not stop burning the Pope’s personal notes from the moment of his departure from this world … And I continue to open new horizons before the work of apostolate and evangelization … Finally, now you do not cease to challenge the man, especially the suddenly grown to whom this day was attributed. .

Resurrection, the resurrection of Jesus, is not a reality, but a potential. As a Christian, I beg God for my love now. Because when we accept the sacrament, we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. With the festivities of the night we are called to enormous hope .. even we did not dream – like the Great Hope (Hoffnung) and to what dynamic of hope. Jesus from the flesh and blood fully man for 50 days after the Resurrection prepares us to experience in full his resurrection. (In German this festival is Oster Fest) Jesus comes to the Upper Room. How many experiences do the apostles now due to this Great Night (Oster Fest), for a reason of an unusual passing, the extraordinary passing of Jesus from grave to glory of heaven. And he says, “Love as I loved you”. May the celebration of these holidays (in Poland, we call them Green Days) will become the last resort forever, let it become a holiday of Holy Spirit gifts every day. Let us become courageous witnesses, and this is the greatest gift, for the gift of the Holy Spirit and it is for every day. One must guard the one truth, the truth of Christ, praise the joy of the Lord. On this issue we include the prayer of all people of good will – also those who have the key to love – that the love of Christ will be heard in our communities forever.”I’m happy, you too!”
