A sermon delivered in the Parish of the Heart of Christ the Savior in Athens,

Introduction: The very same Jesus came today to you. And gives us a great satisfaction, makes a perfect amends for us. First, Jesus spoke to us: “come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” How do we come to him? Just blessing a daily toil and a drudgery of ours. But we don’t manage to open internally for the words of Jesus to be understood fully. In the history of chosen Peoples when the high priest used to enter to “the most holy place in the temple” and celebrated sacrifice, it was made a perfect amends for the sin of people, of the people and his home. And we do not even confess the sins, not being able to the grace, not having the life of Christ in us. Because we do not accept the living bread in the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. Fortunately it happened, here we are … Make Jesus, would I be able to recognize you as a God of love, as the extremity of the most beautiful world. The prayers were attended and to be heard must be humility, submission to the will of God in the service and obedience. Let us apologize the father in heaven, let us cleanse our hearts from our smallness and infidelity. Jesus never sinned. He knows what we need before God the Father interceding for us in our name. He came not to be served, but to serve and give his life for mankind. Let us go to Jesus, even before “divine grace and mercy” defeat human weakness. Now Jesus, you come to us in me, one of the stewards of the great mysteries of salvation, to liberally give us the graces from the Treasury of Thy Mercy. We cannot express gratitude for the goodness of Jesus for us sinners. Come to us, o Lord, on the holy image of your mercy. Immerse us in your grace and bless us, inflame in us the fire of merciful love that renew our hearts and renew spiritual face of our entire parish community.

Dear parishioners! Pastor Casimir me already presented, as the author of thirteen books from Czestochowa, Poland. And he well made it. But first of all let us read this passage from the Prophet Isaiah that we have in today’s liturgy … Three reading this Sunday ((29th Sunday in ordinary time year B) lead us toward the heart of the mystery of salvation. We often, however, we are afraid of words like: sacrifice, atonement, justification, sin, ransom. And yet they bring us to the understanding of our salvation. The Lord Jesus from today’s Gospel spoke to the Apostles about the service as the most important feature in the Kingdom of heaven. St. John and St. James aroused the envy of the other Apostles, because they wanted for themselves the first places in the Kingdom of Christ. Jesus said: “the Cup that I drink, you’ll drink, and baptism, which I accept, you also will accept.” Indeed, these texts are partly incomprehensible, if we place them in the context of the era that we live. But we understand them better, in all their richness, as we seek their origins in the old testament, i.e.. in the “progressive Revelation”, which God gives himself through events and prophets, until the implementation of their fullness in Jesus Christ, who came to share our weaknesses. Little children! How you know the answer to the questions that I you ask, then raise your hands up … What does it mean to be holy, who is in heaven, do you know of some Saints, to whom you pray? Who is holy, what is the most important echoes of Holiness: the saint because: “that he loves the Lord God!” Text from Isaiah, too short it may be pulled from the fourth song, “the servant of Yahweh” opens each year, the order of the passion, Breviary prayer on Good Friday. Servant implements by his life vocation of the chosen people. He received The Spirit Of God. By him the Lord contains Alliance with his people. By him up his light in the eyes of the Nations. In it God finds his praise (glory). Servant, he faces those who have ears but do not hear, do not understand the God’s words, which are addressed to them. It is impossible to break him in persecution, he is close of this who “excuses me” (the third song of the servant of Yahweh), “as a lamb gives up a lead on fertile pastures.” Lamb recalls of another lamb, that in the days of the liberation of the people of God in Egypt was killed, and his blood of the people of God scratched the jambs their homes. This victim destroy the sins of many people (plethora). In the New Testament “ The Servant of Jahweh’s songs” are quoted very often, their contents are numerous. Let us see for example the Canticle of Simeon: “Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in sight of all the peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.”(Lk 2, 29-32). John the Baptist proclaimed the conversion of people with the words: “One mightier than I is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals. I have baptized you with water; he will baptize you with the holy Spirit.” (Mk 1,7) There was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official of the Candace,* that is, the queen of the Ethiopians, in charge of her entire treasury, who had come to Jerusalem to worship, and was returning home. Seated in his chariot, he was reading the prophet Isaiah. The Spirit said to Philip, “Go and join up with that chariot.” Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet. This was the scripture passage he was reading: “Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he opened not his mouth. In (his) humiliation justice was denied him. Who will tell of his posterity? For his life is taken from the earth.”(Acts 8,32-33) “Though harshly treated, he submitted and did not open his mouth; Like a lamb led to slaughter or a sheep silent before shearers, he did not open his mouth. Seized and condemned, he was taken away. Who would have thought any more of his destiny? For he was cut off from the land of the living, struck for the sins of his people.”(Is 53,7-8) In the light of these poems the suffering, the death of the Messiah, here are the sources of salvation. First Jesus’ explanation of these words we have on the road to Emmaus: “Oh, how foolish you are! How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke! Was it not necessary that the Messiah should suffer these things and enter into his glory?”(Lk 24, 25-26) Here appears the righteous persecuted, making good with fidelity and perseverance. The verses of the songs of the servant of Yahweh show a man “Offering his life in sacrifice making justice”. But Jewish victims were tasked to only keep the sinner’s communion with “Holy” God. Servant of Jehovah capable of restoration of all men in righteousness. It was about the righteousness of life with God. After Pentecost, these words will help apostles believe in the risen one, grasp the richness of the most fruitful of his life and his sacrifice. His death was not ordinary. She is the expression and implementation of the “will of the Lord.” Jesus “atoned for the end.” After Jesus’ death, the veil of the tabernacle was not meaningless. The high priest on the Jews was a sign of God’s presence among his people. He cleaned once a year the most holy place, which had been destroyed through the sins of the people. The high priest offers a lamb for his own sin and his home. We are here in Athens, in this beautiful temple, surrounded by the most beautiful monuments of the human civilization. And I guess after a walk on the Acropolis, we can better understand the sacrifices made here to the goddess divine Atena and other gods. And in today’s second reading is talking about the high priest of the new Covenant, it is the Jesus. The image of the high priest is fulfilled in Jesus Christ, his sacrifice as excellent expiation. God saves his people in Israel’s history. But God does not fit to pay for what happens right now, or what someone else now occurs. Jesus’ salvation is still the creation of a new, creating free and absolute. So let us consider all the biblical context here. God the Father triggers and supports those who have fallen under a subject to some form of evil. Jesus fills deliverance, redemption, which is a constant concern of God the Father, with regard to the whole person, that is non-permanent in his fidelity in some way. Jesus did not repays anyone. He gives his life a ransom for many, free and absolutely. Jesus reverses the dynamics of sin. We have here only free obedience of Jesus to the Father in heaven. I will tell you that in my youth, I not really prayed to my daddy in heaven, not talked to God the Father, as did Jesus. Dear the believers in this temple now, for Jesus is not necessary that he there was, as I was among you today, in some way. He is always. To daily life does not create many situations in which we get lost, that was not necessary Jesus “your presence”, for overcoming our weaknesses. Precisely because we have to pray constantly to Jesus and his Father who is in heaven, and it is not allowed to rest. When we are making our hearts hard we cannot listen to the spirit of Christ. Little children, we can get to the altar now, kneel down on the knees before the Tabernacle and say: “I love you Lord Jesus. Lord Jesus I trust in You “. If we confess to the Lord Jesus Christ in all our things? Let we again repeat it: “I love you, Lord Jesus”. So, at the end our pilgrimage we were worthy to raise to the Kingdom of God as a star that shines always. Amen.
